Driver Training Grant Recipient Steps Up

Each fall, Public Entity Partners offers members who participate in our Automobile Liability Coverage the opportunity to apply for the James L. Richardson Driver Training Grant. This is a matching grant that members can use to offset the cost of driver safety-related items, such as instructor-led training, backup cameras, alarms, motor vehicle record checks and more.

Firefighter PTSD and Workers' Compensation Act

On April 21, 2023, the General Assembly enacted the James “Dustin” Samples Act which creates a presumption that a PTSD diagnosis for a firefighter is an injury occurring in the course and scope of the firefighter’s performance and compensable under workers’ compensation law.

The use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS/Drones) by local governments has become commonplace for assistance with law enforcement, fire services, search and rescue, facility inspections and filming special events. While UAS can be of great value due to the various ways they are used, governmental entities should understand the limitations, regulations and laws that must be followed when utilizing UAS.

PEP Celebrates 43rd Anniversary

In October 1979, the City of Hendersonville and the City of Athens entered into an interlocal agreement to cooperatively manage their claims exposures and costs, which created the entity that today is known as Public Entity Partners (PEP). Our organization was one of the first statewide municipal liability pools established in the nation. Forty-three years later, Public Entity Partners works with more than 500 members representing more than 90% of non-self-insured Tennessee municipalities.
