Congratulations to Claims Staffers

After 25 years of working with local government employees as part of Public Entity (PE) Partners’ claims department, Michele Williams retired on September 30th. As the workers’ compensation claims supervisor, Michele was responsible for the workload of each of the nine workers’ compensation adjusters, in addition to working directly with claimants and members. PE Partners members who have had the opportunity to work with Michele know that she brings a sense of calm and consistency to everything she does.

When injuries and accidents do occur, a foundational goal of the workers’ compensation system is to provide prompt medical care to injured employees, and provide a pathway to recovery and returning to the workforce.

Properly handling employment issues and related claims are key factors in reducing your entity’s employment practices liability exposure. As simple as it may sound, there are right and wrong ways to discipline or terminate an employee. Unfortunately, increasing numbers of employment claims, court awards and settlements all seem to indicate that the wrong way may be gaining ground. The workplace and the laws that govern it have changed in multiple ways, which has increased the number of exposures governmental employers face regarding employment practices.

How-To Videos for Online Claims Filing

In September, Public Entity Partners began using a new claims management system, Origami Risk. The online claims forms that are used to submit claims also changed as part of this claims administration system. Anyone within your organization who has access to our online portal can file claims for your entity online. The online claims forms include the ability to save an incident in draft status. Some members are leaving incidents in draft status without submitting the claim. When an incident is left in draft status our adjusters do not receive the claim for processing.
