Virtual Member Workshops

Due to the increase in COVID cases across the state, this year’s Member Workshops will be held virtually. As a risk management organization, we have to consider what is best for the health and safety of our membership and staff.

The content will be broken into two sessions, beginning with Understanding Renewal Applications and Coverages, and Risk Management Fundamentals. The dates of the webinars will be released in the coming weeks. Please continue to monitor our website for more information. If you have previously registered for a workshop, you will automatically receive an email once the dates of the webinars are announced.

To register for the webinar, please click on the link below. Information for logging onto the webinars will be sent to those who register. Unfortunately, due to the online platform, we will not be able to offer CMFO credit.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Mayors, City Managers, Risk Managers, Safety Directors, City Recorders, Human Resources Directors, Insurance Agents.

WHY IS THIS WORKSHOP IMPORTANT?

As a public official, there are few things worse than suffering a large loss, and then learning there is either no or very limited insurance coverage. Every public entity should develop and implement a comprehensive risk management program, which can reduce the chances of this occurring. A comprehensive and active risk management program can reduce the chances of this occurring. Along with a comprehensive program, active loss control efforts and a fundamental understanding of insurance coverages will help public entities reduce risk exposures, improve employee and citizen safety, better protect public property, stabilize insurance costs and reduce the total cost of risk.

Underwriting Workshop: Understanding Renewal Applications and Coverages

Instructors: Public Entity Partners Underwriting Staff

Without a doubt, it is in the member’s best interest to know and understand the insurance coverages it has with Public Entity Partners. This workshop is aimed at helping members better protect themselves through greater understanding of renewal applications and the PE Partners insurance coverage document. The Underwriting Department will outline and explain the workers' compensation, property and liability coverages provided by PE Partners. At the conclusion of this training, attendees will have a greater familiarity with the details and nuances of their insurance coverages, which can assist then with identifying coverage gaps and making more informed coverage decisions.

Loss Control Workshop: Risk Management Fundamentals

Instructors:  Public Entity Partners Loss Control Staff

All public entities face some level of risk from daily operations. Unfortunately, far too many of these entities seek to manage these risks solely through insurance coverage. One of the many problems with this approach is that if there are no risk control efforts in place, not only can losses increase, but insurance costs may rise also. An effective risk management program requires an active loss control program. Loss control is the process of identifying, mitigating and controlling losses. PE Partners' Loss Control staff conducts loss control surveys designed to help members identify risk exposures, and make recommendations to prevent and mitigate losses.

This session will provide information on high-risk safety, liability and property conservation exposures, along with recommendations on best practices for controlling those risk exposures.
