Public Entity Partners' 45th Anniversary

Forty-five years ago on Oct. 29, Public Entity Partners was established.

During the 1970s, the insurance world was experiencing a hard market. Prices skyrocketed and options for coverage were slim. Many of Tennessee’s local governments were abandoned by commercial insurers, and those that weren’t still faced dramatic increases in premiums.

Because of this challenging environment, the cities of Athens and Hendersonville came together in 1979 to sign the interlocal agreement that created PE Partners.

Our organization began with a simple mission: to provide liability, workers’ compensation and property coverage for public entities when the commercial insurance market had turned its back on them. Since our inception, we have formed partnerships with nearly 500 entities across the state. We actively work with them to mitigate risks, promote their safety cultures, and reduce losses through innovative risk management strategies.

Our commitment to local governments extends beyond just offering insurance. Our mission has evolved — we now partner with Tennessee governmental entities in providing effective risk management products and services with a commitment to our members' best interests.

In addition, we deliver a comprehensive risk management program that ensures the sustainability of our members over the long term. PE Partners is not just here for today, but for the future as well — ready to provide the stability and support that local governments need to continue serving their communities.

As we celebrate 45 years of partnership, we reflect on the journey that brought us here and give thanks to our loyal members. PE Partners is proud to make a difference in the lives of Tennessee’s public entity employees and the citizens they serve.

Regardless of the market conditions, we will continue to stand with local governments and ensure that all critical coverages are available to them for years to come.
